Bereavement : We deeply regret sad demise of Professor Nityananda Saha, the member of the Executive Committee, Chemistry Alumni, Scottish Church College and Professor of Chemistry, University of Calcutta, Vice Chancellor Kalyani University, Former Chairman, WBCSC and First Former Honorary Director, Academic Staff College, Calcutta University on 2nd March, 2005. Chemistry Alumni will condole his death in its meeting on 16th March, 2005 in the seminar room at 2:00 p.m.
 
Tenth Aparesh Bhattacharya Memorial Lecture, 2005 :
Topic : Art & Chemistry, Speaker : Professor Bidyendu Mohan Deb, Vikram Sarabhai Research Professor of the JNCASR, Bangalore at the S.N. Bose Centre for Basic Sciences, Kolkata will talk on Art & Chemistry in the seminar room of the college on 16th March, 2005 at 3 p.m.
 
Champions : The third year Chemistry Honours Students were the CHAMPIONS of the Ninth Inter-College Chemistry Quiz 2004, organized by Presidency College, Kolkata. The proud participants were Anupama Ghosh, Gopal Krishna Goswami and Rajarshi Roychowdhury.
 
Excursion : The third year students of the Chemistry Honours Class went for an excursion to Sambalpur in Orissa during 30th September to 2nd October 2004. The students were accompanied by the teachers Dr. Sadananda Bhattacherjya, HOD and Dr. Dinabandhu Kundu.
     
Student Seminar : The 6th Student Seminar organized by the Department of Chemistry and CHEMISTRY ALUMNI, Scottish Church College was held on 8th December 2004 at the Seminar Room of the College. The participants were the students of the second year Chemistry Honours class.
 
Parent-Teacher Meeting : Parent-Teacher Meeting was held on 20th December 2004 for the students of the First year Chemistry Honours Class at the room number 16. The Student's Personal Note Book was handed over to the parents on the same day.
     
Student's Personal Note Book : A Student's Personal Note Book for the students of the Chemistry Honours Class was released on the same day by Dr. John Abraham, Principal of the College. It was a pioneering venture for the betterment of the academic standard in the history of the College.

Winner of Intra College Competition : Sri Somsuvra Nayak of the third year Chemistry Honours was a member of the group which won the First Prize in the Group Song in the Intra College Competition organized by the 175th Year Celebration Committee of SCC.
Winner of Intra College Debate Competition : Ms. Helen Chattopadhyay of the second year Chemistry Honours stood Third in the Intra College Debate Competition organized by the 175th Year Celebration Committee of SCC.
 
Winner of Creative Writing Competition : Ms. Kabitri Nag of the first year Chemistry Honours topped in a Creative Writing competition for her essay entitled "Antarjatik Matribhasha Dibasher Tatparjya" (The significance of the International day for the Mother Language) by the Government of West Bengal on the occasion of the international Day for the Mother Language 2005.
 
Post-doctoral Research Associateship : Dr. Sujoy Baitalik rejoined the College on 4th January 2005 after accomplishment of his post-doctoral research associateship in the research group of Professor Russell H. Schmehl, Department of Chemistry, Tulane University, New Orleans, Lousiana, USA during January 15, 2003 to December 30, 2004. During his stay Dr. Baitalik published three papers in the journals of international repute like: JACS, Inorg. Chim. Acta, Polyhedron and presented posters and attended a number of research conferences.
